Jackson Park Elementary School Addition & Renovation

This was a new 14,500 SF addition to the historic Jackson Park Elementary School for the new fully functioning kitchen and cafeteria wing.  The new addition  also included two additional bathrooms, storage, and a performance stage.

In addition, the existing school required a summer renovation of 7,500SF which required the conversion of the existing gymnasium space into a new library area with a computer lab.  The Administration area and nursing offices were relocated providing a more centralized location and updated finishes.  The library was converted into several classrooms.

Some of the key features that made this project unique were matching the stained oak doors, stained oak wood trim to match the existing historic finishes.  A unique stone fireplace mantel was also relocated to the new library location.   Extensive storm sewer improvements were also a key part of this addition.  The intent was to minimize the impact on the everyday operations and maintain a safe environment for the children once school started.
